Meet Dr. David J. Barton
Dr. David J. Barton
Dr. David J. Barton joined Lakewood Family Dental in July of 2013.
He grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana and attended Bastrop High School where he was honored to graduate in 2002 with a 4.0 GPA and as Valedictorian of his class. LA Tech University awarded him with a Bachelors of Animal Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2006 with a 3.9 GPA. He then received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry graduating in the top 5 of his class with a 3.97 GPA. Dr. Barton was honored with the Dean’s Award for his performance in Didactic and Clinical Achievement. The Robert F. Eastman Memorial Award was given to him for excellence in Operative Dentistry/Biomaterials. At graduation he also received a certificate of recognition from the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration for Excellence and Academic Achievement during dental education in Dental Practice Administration. Dr. Barton was inducted into Omicron Kappa Epsilon Honor Dental Society while at LSU. He received a scholarship to attend the Dawson Academy for training after graduation.
Dr. Barton joined the team of Southern Smiles and Dr. Jennifer N Boles immediately after graduation in June of 2010. He served Mangham, Rayville, and the surrounding areas of Northeast Louisiana for three years before taking the opportunity to join Lakewood Family Dental in July of 2013. Dr. Barton stated he was honored to follow in the footsteps of such a skilled and conscientious dentist as Dr. Pennington.
Dr. Barton avidly pursues to further his education and stay current with CE courses exceeding the annual hours of CE requirements each period. His passion for people is felt through his calm, gentle, yet thorough chairside manner. He often even sings for his patients during local anesthesia to help calm their anxiety.
God and family are Dr. Barton’s passion. He is actively involved in the music department playing the bass guitar and singing with the praise team at their church, the First United Pentecostal Church of Bastrop. Kayla and he also work as part of the ministry team to serve the youth group. He teaches the 9-11 year old’s class on Wednesday night.
Dr. Barton and his wife, Kayla, have 2 sons, Fulton and Owen. Dr. Barton enjoys spending outdoor time with both boys and has led Fulton to be a skilled hunter and marksman. Time with his family is most to Dr. Barton, and he strives to make that a priority.

Brenda Chesser
Appointment Coordinator
Brenda Chesser, has worked in the dental field since graduating from The Bryman School of Dental Assisting in Van Nuys, Ca. Since joining the team at Lakewood Family Dental 23 years ago, Brenda has held positions in both the clinical and administrative areas, and is currently Appointment Coordinator for Dr. David Barton.
Brenda and her husband Edgar have 2 daughters, Maranda and Jennifer and 2 grandsons, Barrett and Dalton, whom they enjoy “entertaining”. In her spare time, Brenda enjoys cooking, fishing, and gardening. Brenda brings many years of experience to the practice and is always willing to work together with our patients to accommodate their schedule.
Kim Young
Insurance Coordinator
Kim Young, has worked at Lakewood Family Dental for twenty years. She started her dental career as a dental assistant and is now insurance coordinator for Dr. Barton.
Kim and her husband Michael have one son, Bryce, who will be heading off to college soon. In her off time, she enjoys watching Michael and Bryce shoot skeet and trap. She also enjoys cooking, baking, and relaxing at home with her fur baby LuLu.
Madalynn Patrick
Accounts Payable
Madalynn Patrick is responsible for accounts payable for Lakewood Family Dental. She joined the Lakewood Family Team five years ago as one of Dr. Barton’s dental assistants. Since then, she and her husband Parker have welcomed their sweet baby girl Cypress Lynn. Madalynn now works part time allowing her to spend as much time as possible with her daughter.
In her spare time, Madalyn is very involved with her church activities and sings with The Praise Team. She also loves shopping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Clinical Dental Assistant
Kiana Sims is a clinical assistant for Dr. David J. Barton. Kiana brings over 16 years experience and a passion for dentistry to the practice. Kiana moved to Arkansas from California 4 years ago where she met and married her wonderful husband, Chris. Kiana has 4 daughters and 3 granddaughters.
When not working Kiana enjoys mud riding on 4 wheelers, hunting, spending time with her family and mentoring the youth at her church.
Georgeanna Rivers
Clinical Dental Assistant
Georgeanna Rivers is a clinical assistant for Dr. David J. Barton @ Lakewood Family Dental. Georgie received her accreditation in dental assisting at Eastern College of Health Vocations in Little Rock, Arkansas and joined Lakewood in 2016. It was while studying for dental assisting that she realized her love of dentistry and decided to make it her career. Georgeanna is working toward furthering her education and will be studying for a diploma in dental hygiene. Until that time, she is a vital part of the team here at Lakewood.
When not working Georgeanna loves spending time with her niece and nephews playing games and entertaining them. She is a natural born shopper and loves to float the Buffalo River, and riding bikes. Georgeanna is a former gymnast and enjoys staying active.

Korry Jones
Dental Hygienist
Korry Jones is one of our dental hygienists here at Lakewood Family Dental. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in May 2014. She is passionate about getting to know all of our patients and making sure everyone receives quality care. Korry is quick to make patients feel at ease by building confidence, trust and friendship with each patient.
Korry lives in Monticello with her husband Tyler, and their new baby girl Evy Claire. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with Evy Claire, being with her family and friends, serving at her church, taking stroller runs and being outdoors.
